Recently, Clean Technica compiled a ranking of the 10 best-selling pure electric car models in the world in 2023 with contributions from famous brands such as Tesla, BYD, SGMW, GAC and Volkswagen. Among them, topping the list is the Tesla Model Y with 1.2 million cars sold, and is also the best-selling car model in the world auto market. In second place is still the "brother" Tesla Model 3 with 529,287 cars sold. Holding positions 3, 4 and 5 are three BYD products.
Considered a "phenomenon" in the electric car industry, up to now, Wuling Mini EV is still a car model with a high ranking on the global electric vehicle sales rankings. Although ranked 6th in the top 10 best-selling electric cars in the world in 2023, in the mini electric car segment, Wuling Mini EV is still the mini electric car with the highest sales after more than 3 years of launch. According to Clean Technica, in the past year, Mini EV sold 237,919 vehicles, continuing to rank No. 1 in the world in the mini electric car segment. According to SGMW, the cumulative sales of US joint venture electric vehicles (SGMW) have so far exceeded 1.3 million vehicles. This is an impressive number for a new electric car model after just over 3 years of market launch since June 2020.
Particularly in the country of billions of people, China, in the past year, SGMW sold 237,863 Mini EV cars, nearly twice as many as the next-ranked model, Changan Lumin (136,764 cars) in the same period. Previously, in September 2021, Wuling Mini EV set a sales record in the Chinese market when selling up to 1,800 cars/day, equivalent to a car sold every 20 seconds. According to data from market research firm Rho Motion, in January 2024, global electric and hybrid vehicle sales were 1.1 million units, up 69% over the same period last year. Specifically, a total of 1.1 million electric and hybrid cars were sold globally in January 2024. The above figure marks a significant increase of 69% compared to 660,000 units sold in January 2023. It is forecast that by the end of 2024, global electric vehicle sales will grow from 25% to 30%.
