In October, Wuling, the automotive brand of the SGMW joint venture, maintained the second position in the ranking of the best-selling electric car brands in China.
According to the report from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), in the past October, the country's automotive market achieved a sales volume of 2.033 million units, up 0.7% compared to the previous month and an increase of 10.2% compared to the same period last year. Among them, new energy vehicles accounted for 37.7% of the total sales, including 195,000 pure electric vehicles and 272,000 hybrid cars.

According to the report from CPCA, Wuling secured the 2nd position in the top 10 best-selling electric car brands, following BYD – the largest electric car brand in China, surpassing other globally renowned brands such as Tesla and Volkswagen. Specifically, Wuling sold 45,087 new electric cars, accounting for a 9.11% market share. In the previous month, the electric car brand of the SGMW joint venture held the 4th position, with sales of 36,871 units, equivalent to a 7.37% market share.
According to the announcement from TMT Motors, Wuling is one of the electric car manufacturers under SGMW, a joint venture between General Motors (holding 44%, responsible for product development, overseeing production, and quality control), SAIC Motors, and Wuling Motors (holding 56%, responsible for sales, after-sales service, and marketing). The Wuling brand currently includes several products such as Mini EV, Bingo, Gameboy, and Air EV.
Among them, the SGMW joint venture - Mini EV is the best-selling small electric car in the world for over 3 years since 2020, with accumulated sales of over 1.3 million units. In the first 9 months of 2023, the sales of this model in China reached 170,000 units, accounting for nearly 30% of the small car market. This model is also currently being produced and assembled in Vietnam by TMT Motors, following the technology transfer from SGMW. According to the company's announcement, hundreds of Vietnamese people currently own and use the Mini EV model.
In addition to the Mini EV, Bingo - one of Wuling's new urban electric car models, has also seen explosive sales since its launch at the end of March 2023. According to CleanTechnica, in the first 9 months, this model achieved sales of over 150,000 units. Recently, Bingo has been distributed in Indonesia. The electric car Bingo is targeted to achieve impressive sales figures similar to the Mini EV.
