On December 26, 2023, the School of Mechanical Engineering - Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) received 2 Wuling Mini EV to support research, learning, and practical activities in the automotive field at the university.
The two Mini EV cars were sponsored by PCN Global Company and GCL Company for the School of Mechanical Engineering - Hanoi University of Science and Technology, with the desire to contribute to research development and promote general scientific and technical activities and, in particular, the electric vehicle industry in Vietnam.
Electric vehicles are currently a trending and increasingly attractive mode of transportation, drawing significant attention from countries worldwide in terms of production investment, especially for developing nations. Research, development, and training in the electric vehicle field are crucial at leading universities in Vietnam, including the School of Mechanical Engineering at Hanoi University of Science and Technology.
During the ceremony, Mr. Son Jinho, CEO and representative of PCN Global and GCL, stated, "The Mini EVs are not just means of transportation but also serve as a supportive tool for research and practical activities in lectures and projects of students in the electric vehicle manufacturing field. This is a significant step to enhance the quality of education, while encouraging innovation and creativity in the learning process of HUST students."
Sharing at the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Truong Hoanh Son, Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering, HUST, stated, "Previously, due to a lack of infrastructure and machinery, the research and development process for students faced many limitations. Equipping the university with 2 Mini EV electric cars not only improves student practical experience but also makes the learning environment more convenient and modern, providing students with opportunities to conduct in-depth research on electric vehicles and enhancing the effectiveness of their practical training."
The leadership of HUST also hopes that the 2 SGMW (joint venture between China's SAIC Motor, General Motors, and Liuzhou Wuling Motors) - Mini EVs will contribute to researching small electric vehicle models, allowing Vietnam to independently develop and produce other electric vehicles in the future.
The donation of Mini EVs to HUST has created a new opportunity for students, faculty, and the university to enhance capabilities, research, and technological innovation in the future, contributing to the improvement of human resources in the electric vehicle industry in Vietnam. This collaboration between the business and education sectors is a clear demonstration of positive cooperation, aiming towards an innovative and sustainable future for the mechanical engineering industry in Vietnam.
